Rochelle Tickle applied to our foundation in 2023 and received an arts scholarship.
Rochelle told us last year that her goal is being both a theatre teacher and performer.
She writes below how this scholarship impacted her:
“Watching these performances and being in such an artistic city studying Theatre, I feel one step closer to being up on that stage performing myself. With the money received from the Kate Moetaua Scholarship, I was able to comfortably move to a whole new city, where I could explore my passion for theatre. I am now learning new information everyday as I either view live theatre or study it. If it wasn’t for this scholarship I wouldn’t have been as encouraged to move out of my small town and dream big, but now I can.
I am so grateful to have received this scholarship as it gave me the confidence to pack everything up and move to my dream city. Originally I was nervous to move out and pursue theatre, as most consider it a ‘drop-out’ subject. Yet, being awarded this scholarship showed me that my passion is appreciated and recognised by others. Not only that but it helped me regain my love for watching live performances and learning from them. This scholarship has brought me so close to being the person up on the stage and I can’t wait for my day to arrive. So thank you to everyone in the Kate Moetaua Foundation team, I am forever grateful.”
