Megan McCulloch applied to our foundation in 2022 and received an arts scholarship.
She writes below how this scholarship impacted her:
"Primarily, this scholarship gave me the opportunity to improve my dance abilities in another city. Now, it has led to so much more. Thanks to Kate Moetaua Foundation, I have been fortunate enough to be taught by and dance with current company dancers, alongside ex-professionals. The classes have allowed me to form my own choreography and explore unique styles of movement. Soon, I will be partaking in the mid-year showcase featuring dancers from Ballet Collective Aotearoa. While an injury at the start of the year prevented me from doing some of the events I originally was going to partake in, I am still so grateful to have the opportunity to dance. The connections I have formed within the dance community have been incredible and I plan to further enhance my abilities through a choreography pathway.
This scholarship provided me with an extra stepping stone to follow what I love. The experience gained has produced ideas and stories which I hope to share with others someday. I am forever grateful to have dancing as a part of my life. The funding provided has given me the chance to improve my dancing skills in the hope of later pursuing choreography as a career. I have so many people to thank who have allowed me to be where I am today. A major thank you to Kate and her family. The foundation is incredible and you have granted others, including me, a chance to live a dream."
