Giving out our first grants!

It was with great pleasure that the girls & I met some of the recipients of the first ever grants from Kate’s Foundation earlier this week.

Each of these impressive Wakatipu High School Queenstown students will be putting the money towards either a sporting or arts or cultural initiative. It will be used to fund touch rugby, football, ice hockey, drama, art, athletics and the performing arts.

Kate had the biggest heart and would always try and find a way to include as many students as possible in whatever she did. So it is no surprise that when it came to narrowing down the applicants, the girls and I really struggled. So….we made the decision to include everyone. As result, well, I guess we’ll just have to do a bit more fundraising this year to make up for it. I know you’ll all understand, as she would always make sure nobody missed out.

Congratulations to all of the recipients; Hera Winders, Hayato Yoneto, Nieve Collin, Grace Hastie, Helena Hornbacher, Sophie Thompson, Marco Hartono and Olive Watherston.

We will be formally presenting grants to the two main recipients, Hera Winders and Hayato Yoneto, at the Wayfare Spirit of the Wakatipu Gala and Awards. Our thanks goes out to the Wakatipu Community Foundation for their wonderful and ongoing support of the Kate Moetaua Foundation. It is sure to be a very special evening indeed.
