Billie Carey, 2022 Top Arts Recipient

Billie Carey applied to our foundation in 2022 and received the top arts scholarship.

She writes below how this scholarship impacted her:

"The Kate Moetaua scholarship money has helped me in a number of ways, most importantly it helped me go to Sublime Studios in Waitaki to record some music and it’s also funded my lessons toward getting my NZ Speech and Drama Diploma at the end of the year. Both of these examples have taught me a great deal of responsibility, discipline, confidence, and leadership, and I’m very grateful to have these opportunities."

I’m incredibly grateful for the scholarship money, it opens up opportunities I wouldn't have otherwise. I live in a single-income family and with the amount of extracurriculars I do in order to prepare for university, it takes money. The scholarship money has helped me fund opportunities in drama and music develop many skills such as resilience and dedication."
